for World Englishes Inc.

IAWE, a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation, aims to establish links among those who are involved with any aspect of World Englishes in research and/or teaching. The association focuses on global issues relating to three major aspects of World Englishes:

language,
literature,
and pedagogy.

IAWE is committed to the study of the forms and functions of varieties of Englishes in diverse cultural and sociolinguistic contexts.

It is with great sadness and a deep sense of personal and professional loss that we announce the untimely death of Professor Yamuna Kachru, the Association's Vice President and President Elect on April 19, 2013.  She has been a guidling light and sustaining force from the beginning of our work in world Englishes.  We extend our deepest condolences to her devoted husband, Professor Braj B. Kachru, their children Dr. Amita Kachru and Professor Shamit Kachru as well as to their extended family.
